Entry into the college is competitive and several factors are considered including ACT/SAT scores, strong college prep curriculum, class rank and GPA.

In June, The Ohio State University College of Engineering's graduate program ranked first in Ohio and 13th among all public universities in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Grad Schools issue.

Since fall 2013, the average acceptance rate for COE is 83.4%. This percentage includes transfer, post-bacs, and readmitted students. In fall 2018, the total COE undergraduate enrollment was 7,759 students (including OSU-Cascades, online, post-baccalaureate and non-degree undergraduates).

This year Ohio State University's Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) graduate program moved up swiftly in the U.S. News and World Report's national rankings of graduate engineering programs. BME achieved the rank of 36^th out of 149 programs, an impressive jump over its ranking of 43 in 2024.
